Thanks again :-) Microsoft doesn't force you to use their firewall (see the attached screen capture): I use Norton Internet Security to protect my computer and it works flawlessly.
It never bothers me...updates and scans automatically and as I said, is a firewall, anti-malware and anti-virus. If they won't let you run a certain kinds of processes, updates or cmdlets without activating windows Firewall, that's called forcing you to use their firewall.
